For the first time we decided to play at a venue that hadn’t hosted the Open. We also decided to split the Tournament between two venues, playing the first round at S&A and the final round at Hillside.

It turned out to be an inspired choice on both fronts and it was difficult to pick the best course. S&A probably has a bit more character but few courses can match Hillside’s scenery, particularly on the back nine.

Hillside witnessed a thrilling climax as Gaz, Ant and Beast were locked together coming down the stretch. Gaz managed to hold his nerve and sealed the deal with a fine par 4 on the 36th hole. This saw Gaz lifting the famous claret jug for the 4th time.

We stayed in Southport at the Vincent Hotel (top drawer) and had a fantastic couple of nights in Southport. Saturday night was probably the best night out for the collective. Richie appeared to think he’d won TML, what else could explain the amount of champagne he liberally dispersed to anyone who came within 20 feet?


The scores for the second round at Hillside were also lost but we have scores from the first round at S&A.  The remaining members are ranked according to their first round scores only.
